The Irvine Animal Care Center (IACC) project involves renovating and expanding the facility to expand operations and improve the facilities for animal care. The project is divided into three phases to ensure the center remains operational throughout the construction process.
Phase One includes the addition of a new 5,089 SF entrance building with a larger lobby, reception area, retail space, offices, and a multipurpose room for events and training sessions. A new 3,727 SF veterinary suite will also be added, featuring recovery and isolation rooms, exam rooms, treatment tables, radiology, dental cleaning, offices, and a surgery room. Exterior improvements include an accessible ramp, activity yards, and new paving.
Phase Two infills an underutilized space between two existing buildings with a new staff break room and expands administration areas and housing capacities for cats and small animals. Improvements to the dog housing building(s) are also included consisting of improved ventilation, acoustics, enlarged kennels for larger breeds, improved site lines (or lack thereof), support spaces and updated finishes.
Phase Three focuses on completing the multipurpose room, parking, agility yards, and site improvements. All of the areas that were utilized to support temporary facilities during construction of the previous phases.
The collaboration with the facility staff and City of Irvine has been instrumental in ensuring the project's success. The improvements will enhance the facility's functionality, provide better care for the animals, and create a more welcoming environment for visitors.
